In the newer Metroid games Ridley is drawn and displayed as being purple. However, if you look at him on the cover of Super Metroid, he is red (as seen with your icon) I think hes red in metroid 2 as well but I'm not sure.)
So what color is ridley? Is he purple (as seen in brawl and Metroid Prime) or is he red (as seen in Super metroid.)

The red Ridley seen on the cover and in the manual is a result of the boss fights in Super Metroid, during which all the bosses would get redder as they became more damaged.
With no damage, Ridley is purple, even in Super Metroid.
He wasn't in Metroid 2 btw ;D
